A guide to cleaning all-weather floor mats. AKA Weathertech floor mats.

Updated: Apr 24

Most modern vehicles now have all-weather floor mats. These are great for protecting your car from the daily wear and tear of dirty feet, spilled drinks, salt, mud, etc.

After a while these mats can start looking pretty bad. This guide will help you to clean your own floor mats, the way the pros do.

Follow the steps or watch our video! Link at the bottom.

Step 1: Remove floor mats from vehicle.

Step 2: Pressure wash the debris off of your mats.

Step 3: Using your favorite car wash soap, either use a foam cannon to apply soap or squirt a little on each mat.

Step 4: Using a drill with a flat drill brush or a hand brush, agitate the debris to loosen it up, make sure to get the corners where spills like to coagulate.

Step 5: Rinse floor mats off with pressure washer.

Step 6: Spray Chemical Guys No Nonsense Invisible cleaner or another cleaner that is approved for use on plastic. Agitate the cleaner with the drill brush or hand brush again. Scrub extra on areas that didn't come clean with the car wash soap.

Step 7: Rinse.

Step 8: Let dry. When dry if you still see soiled areas, rinse and repeat!

Step 9: When clean and dry, apply your favorite dressing to the mats. We don't like to use tire shine because of how gummy it can get as well as attracting more dirt. Use a water-based dressing such as Meguiars Hyper dressing.

Step 10: Re-install mats into your vehicle. Or continue with vacuuming and cleaning your vehicle.

We hope this helps to make cleaning those mats a little easier.

If this all seems like too much work, you can always call us to detail your car!
